Ramps for Materials

When preparing an event, especially outdoors, the logistics of loading and unloading is fundamental.  Sound and lighting equipment, instruments and scenery require safe, efficient access to the stage.  GUIL’s ramps for materials, manufactured with the same high-strength modular platforms as our stage decks, allow heavy loads to be moved with ease.  They are customisable in length, width and inclination, making them adaptable to any specification, ensuring stable, safe transport of all kinds of equipment.  To allow you to appreciate their potential, we are attaching a sketch with an example of configuration and assembly.

COMPLETE RAMPS. INCLUDE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS

RT-1/4-60
– Ramp for 60 cm-high stages with a length of 4 m – a 12.5% slope (counting only the decks and not the ramp starter plate).
Perpendicular to the stage.
– Includes: 2 x TM440/2×1; 1 x RMP-01 (special), telescopic legs and connectors

RTL-1/10-120

Preparing for events, usually outdoors, with a temporary stage using GUIL’s stage decks, it is often necessary to take material for the event up on to the stage or down from it.  It could be lighting or sound equipment, musical instruments such as a piano, scenery, machinery, or other items, but what they have in common is that they’re all large and heavy.  To make taking them up on to the stage as easy as possible, the best thing is to use a ramp, which can be made, like the stage, with GUIL’s platforms, and assembled only for the set-up and take-down of the stage set.

GUIL’s stage platforms are some of the strongest around, and we can also manufacture the necessary length, width and inclination required by every individual customer for their ramp.

Build the ramp you need

With GUIL’s ramps, you can build the ramp you need for every event.  The length, width and inclination can be configured as necessary in each case, with the length and inclination being interdependent, of course.  The gradient should be no steeper than 1 in 10, and possibly less, so that the goods can be taken up it without excessive effort: for a 1-metre-high platform, the ramp should be 10 metres long.

To move materials, the ramp is usually at least 2 metres wide, to make sure that any trolleys, handcarts, or other vehicles will be able to use it.  Although GUIL manufacture handrails for their platforms, it’s probably better to leave this ramp without them, as they could be too high to let the materials get past.  Users should always be careful to observe the regulations governing staging and ramps in their region.

PLYWOOD BOARDS: GUIL’s TM440 stage platforms use 21mm-thick beech plywood board with a maximum weight capacity of 1200 kg/m2, far more than the majority of platforms on the market.  The TM440 is also available with six legs (Ref. TM440XL/2×1), or even eight (Ref. TM440XXL/2×1), instead of four, increasing the capacity to 1400 kg/m2 and 1600 kg/m2 respectively.  Their phenolic film covering and sealed edges make them suitable for indoor or outdoor use, as well as giving them excellent fire-resistant properties, and the rough surface of the wiremesh finish provides excellent grip for footwear or wheels when taking material up the ramp.

FRAMES & LEGS: The frames of the platforms are made of reinforced aluminium alloy EN AW 6063 80-T6, with numerous internal veins for maximum strength.  It also has the continuous rail, a slot running along every element of the frame where accessories such as handrails or access stairs are attached.

The telescopic legs are also made of the same aluminium alloy and similarly have internal veins for maximum strength.  The leg extension system, with a screw knob for millimetric height adjustment of up to 50mm, means that every leg can be individually fitted to a perfect height to make a supremely stable and solid ramp.

CONNECTORS: The TMU-01 deck-to-deck connector and the TMU-02 deck-to-deck clamp (1 of each free with every TM440 platform) and the TMU-04 leg-to-leg clamp (1 free with every 4 telescopic legs of 70-120cm or more) guarantee that the platforms are all joined together to make a stable, cohesive unit that ensures the safety of any vehicle that uses it.  We recommend buying extra TMU-01 and TMU-02 connectors and using two of each one on every side connecting with another platform.

RAMP STARTER KITS: The ramp starter kits (Ref. RMP-01 and RMP-03) include an aluminium starter plate (40cm for the RMP-01 and 100cm for the RMP-03) with connectors, fixed-length legs for the bottom platform of the ramp, and two angle-adjustable telescopic legs for the top platform.

The 21mm-thick board of the TM440 board, the special aluminium frame and the telescopic legs make GUIL ramps very strong, and they can take the weight of a car with no need for any reinforcing bars under the board.  Although we offer this option, as well as the possibility of adding up to four additional legs to each frame to increase the maximum weight capacity by as much as 33%, to a maximum of 3200 kg per platform, materials for an event are very unlikely to weigh so much, and the standard platforms should prove perfectly sufficient.

GUIL manufacture platforms with the strength and other conditions to make a resounding success of any event where our ramps and platforms are used to take materials on to the stage.
