Like in most sports, Formula 1 fans don’t only go to watch the event: many of them also want to see the stars – in this case, of course, the drivers – and get an autograph or even a photo with some of them.  With all those huge spaces, there’s a lot of room for people to gather, so the organisers at Montmeló needed a way to keep the fans from getting too near the drivers, while at the same time letting them feel close to them.  They decided that the best way to do that was to use GUIL’s ATV crowd control barriers.

GUIL manufacture the ATV-07 crowd control barrier, the ATV-08 gate, and the TV-09 barrier with cable access.  A long line of ATV-07 barriers, with several gates and cable access barriers, was put up between the public areas of Montmeló and the paddock where the drivers and their teams were.  As the ATV-07 barriers have a step at the back, the drivers were able to stand on the step to talk to the fans, sign autographs and even take selfies with the lucky ones in the front row.  Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon were among the drivers who brightened up the fans’ day, while @FernandoAlonso took a video selfie of the hundreds of people at the other side of the barriers.  For all the fans who were able to interact with the drivers across the ATV-07 barriers, it was a day to remember for a long time.
